Bangkok Coin Museum: a place for coin collectors in Bangkok

During one of my trips to Bangkok looking for places to buy banknotes, I decided to make an exception and visit the Bangkok Coin Museum. I usually don’t visit museums, but this one was related to money, numismatics, and the history of currency in Thailand.

For coin collectors, this museum is particularly interesting. It has many coins from different historical periods, from ancient silver coins with the rising sun to modern commemorative and collectible issues. There are also coins from other countries, making it interesting for those who like studying different minting styles and designs.

It is important to note that there are very few banknotes displayed in the museum, so if your main goal is notaphily, the visit will be more for general interest and learning about the history of Thailand’s currency.

Entrance to the ground floor is free, while a guided tour to the upper floors costs 50 baht and lasts about an hour, with the last tour starting at 3 PM. There are usually no queues, and no booking is needed, making it easy to plan your visit on any weekday.

Inside, it is cool with resting areas, interactive panels, and multimedia screens that make the visit more engaging. Tours are conducted in Thai, but there are English information boards, which is convenient for foreign collectors.

At the exit, there is a small shop where you can buy commemorative coins for your collection or as a gift.

If you are interested in coin collecting, numismatics, and the history of money, the Bangkok Coin Museum in Thailand will be an interesting place to visit during your stay in Bangkok.
